Upper Division Clerk Job Description & Duties:

UDC generally provides assistance to his senior officers. He proof reads the work of his junior staff i.e LDC. Upper Division Clerk write letters and emails as per the instructions of his seniors. He read emails and reply them accordingly. His primary duty is the maintain necessary date and excel sheets. He keeps the record of his office updated. He present record and data analytics on demand to seniors. He maintain the salaries record of his office. He also records the attendance of employees. He coordinates with head office and other departments. He performs all the office tasks handed over to him by seniors. UDC nature of work changes from organization to organization.

 

 

UDC Eligibility Criteria:

Generally eligibility criteria of Upper Division Clerk is minimum Inter. FSc/I.Com/ICS passed candidates are usually are preferred. Now some organizations are just recruiting bachelor candidates on UDC posts. Minimum required age of candidates is 18 years. Upper age limit is 25 years, but in some organizations and departments it is 30 years. Upper age limit for retired army personals is 45 years.

 

Usually five years general age relaxation is also granted in special cases. Candidates should have command over MS word, power point and excel. Minimum required typing speed is 30 wpm. Some departments demand 45 wpm typing speed and even prior experience. You should also be able to use internet.

 

 

Pay of Upper Division Clerk (UDC)

Earlier UDC was awarded BPS 9, but now upper division clerk is given BPS 11. His salary starts from 20k and reaches up to 36k rupees.

 

 

UDC Test Details:

For the post of UDC you will have to clear typing test, written test and interview. For UDC jobs in federal government departments you will have to clear NITB training of three weeks after recruitment during probation period. In written test MCQs are asked on following topics;

Difference Between UDC & LDC

UDC is given 11th scale while LDC is given 9th scale. For post of upper division clerk intermediate is minimum required qualification whereas matriculation is minimum eligibility requirement for post of lower division clerk.

UDC is a very good post in the initial stage of your career. Try to learn shorthand for getting stenographer post in near future. You should also try to get ADP or BS degree form AIOU for getting more higher job in future. In short UDC should not be your ultimate goal in life.
