Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was boirn on 25th December 1876 in Karachi. He was the first of seven children of Punja Jinnahbhai a prosperous merchant of Karachi. His father an Ismaili Shia Muslim of Gujarati background had migrated from Kathiawar to Karachi in 1860. Quaid’s mother was a Khoja Ismaili Shia Muslim of Gujarati back ground. Quaid received his early schooling at the Sindh Madrassat-ul-Islam and Karachi Grammar School. He then went to England for higher education at the age of 16 and joined Lincoln’s Inn in 1893 to study law. After being called to the Bar he returned to India in 1896.

His father Jinnah Poonjah was a prosperous merchant. His mother Mithibai was a pious lady who used to pray five times a day. Quaid-e-Azam was the first child of his parents. He received his early education at the Sindh Madressatul Islam Karachi. He passed his Matriculation Examination at the age of 16 years and went to England for further studies. He became barrister from Lincoln’s Inn in 1896. After returning to India he started practicing law at Karachi.
