Urdu is our national language and it is one of the most spoken languages in the world. About one billion people in the whole world speak and understand Urdu. Urdu is a binding force between four provinces of Pakistan. Urdu language has its roots in Arabic, Persian and Punjabi language. It is written in Arabic script. Urdu is becoming a global language very quickly. At present it is spoken and understand in more than two dozen countries.
Hindi is not a separate language as many people think in the West. Hindi is Dev Nagari version of Urdu language. It is the symbol of Muslim rule in India and is written in Arabic script due to which Indians don’t call it Urdu. MA in Urdu literature is very popular specially among Pakistani girls. As there is a great demand of Urdu lady teachers in private schools. MA Urdu is a two year program. Almost all the important private and public sector universities in Pakistan offer MA Urdu program for regular as well as private candidates. Some universities like AIOU offer this program through distance learning too.
Eligibility
Every student with bachelor degree with Urdu as elective subject and with minimum second division from any HEC recognized university can take admission in MA Urdu program.

You can get a professional edge by getting some diploma or degree in journalism and education. Print and electronic media love to hire a person who knows Urdu well. You can work as sub editor, reporters, proof readers and even as anchor person in media houses. As all of you know that Urdu is taught as compulsory subject in Pakistan up to intermediate level. So there are wider scope for you in educational institutes. A Biology lecturer is needed only for FSC Pre medical class while an Urdu lecturer is needed for FSC Pre medical, FSC Pre engineering, FA general science, ICS, I.COM and FA classes to teach Urdu compulsory. You can also sit in competitive exam with Urdu as an optional subject. Advertising agencies and entertainment TV and radio channels also needs script writers.
